MVOTW 9/30-10-/4

This week I am featuring one of my favorite creators on YouTube.  Kurt Hugo Schneider has always been content to be behind the scenes; he is an editor and producer at heart, but like the proverbial traits of so many composers, can of course play instruments and sing when necessary.  He has been working on YouTube for many years now, but has only in the past couple years been willing to be one of the main focuses in his own music videos.

Kurt has an amazing eye for talent and has made so many famous YouTube musicians what they are today by featuring them in his videos.  In many ways, he is a sort of "central hub" to the greater world of music on YouTube.  In this particular video, he is playing alongside a very unique musician who has been previously featured in a couple of Kurt's videos.  Kevin Olusola is a musician with the ability to play cello and beat-box at the same time-- both very well.  When you watch the video, it may seem like the sound isn't matched when they show Kevin's mouth, but after years of watching beat-boxing videos (yes guys, I really do watch them!), I have come to realize that a lot of the sounds you hear from beat-boxers come from inside their mouths and not just from their lips (a mistake many make when they try to imitate the sounds of beat-boxing).

This video was sponsored by Coca-Cola (you'll see why when you watch), and features MANY unique and awesome ways to make everyday items into less-than-everyday instruments (but watch for all the different kinds of mallets he uses!).  This video has a sort of "MysteryGuitarMan" feel to it, so if you enjoy this, I would suggest you look through some of the awesome videos found in my sidebar under "MysteryGuitarMan".

Look for more amazing & creative videos from Kurt to be featured on my blog in the future!

(P.S. This video is actually not on YouTube (except by those who put it up illegally-- a thing I do not appreciate when it was not their work, but they are putting it on their channel), so the player may look a little different than usual.)

    This Week in Music History

1963, 'She Loves You' by The Beatles was released by Swan Records in the US. Although the song was currently No.1 in the UK, 'She Loves You' was ignored in the US until 1964 when it would reach the top of the US Pop chart.
